In his 2023-24 Global Solo Challenge campaign, Ronnie managed to boot strap his way to the starting line with a grassroots ocean racing campaign that was funded by over $300,000 in private contributions, crowd funding, in-kind product donations from marine industry sponsors and an 11th hour title sponsorship from Fred Forsley and Shipyard Brewing of Portland, Maine.

In 2027, the campaign again stems from humble beginnings. With many of his 2023-24 sponsors still on board for 2027, Ronnie nonetheless has a long way to go to fulfill his budget requirements and actually make it to the starting line in Vigo, Spain in October of 2027 onboard Class 40 #15 ‘Koloa Maoli’.

Again sailing to benefit the 501c3 non-profit US Patriot Sailing, Ronnie has also established another crowd funding campaign with GoFund Me while he begins work towards connecting a number of companies that can come together and enjoy the many benefits of sponsoring a round-the-world ocean racing campaign based ouf of the USA.
